About Astrological Enrichments

There are plenty of perfumes on the market which claim to be astrologically aligned, but very few which go beyond simple (sometimes self-determined, aka made up!) note and even gem associations, such as:

Citrus is sunny smelling, so we will make an orange-based fragrance to call “Leo” for 1/12th of the population to buy (and for others to buy Leos when they don’t know what else to get them!).

We’ll put peridot in it, since that’s Leo’s modern Western birthstone (— even though the historic astro-lapidary tradition most commonly ascribes peridot as a replacement for emerald, which is a Venus stone, or to Mercury; never the Sun, ruler of Leo).

Further divorcing these products from the Spiritual traditions such things are marketed as and innately part, most Zodiacal fragrances are made from synthetic aroma chemicals with little in the way of living energy, Spirit, or ojas to give (— to say nothing of how bad scientific studies have confirmed conventional fragrance often is for the human body and health of our home Planet).

The perfumer behind is Kaitlin Coppock — the animating force behind Sphere + Sundry, who built her practice around one of the oldest and most foundational books of actual magic (grimoires) in human history — the Ghayat al-Hakim, or Goal of the Wise, known most colloquially as The Picatrix.

She performs careful ritual operations in alignment with the classical Talismanic Magic tradition, on rare, expertly chosen elections by astrologer and remedial-expert Austin Coppock.

The result is something Kaitlin has called “Talismanic Materia” — consecrated herbal bases, often in jojoba or alcohol — which carry forth the palpable magical charge of the Planets and Stars at their best, brightest, and most amenable to Humankind.

These are then hand-fashioned into finished product using (just as !) only the finest all-natural ingredients, including 24k gold, fine silver, and precious gemstones in glass (never plastic), and shipped all over the World. Anointing Oils, Incense, Lip Balms, Kolonias and Hydrosol Sprays, Salves, Honeys, edible goods, consecrated spices, and more, which are used by thousands of people for the enhancement of not only ritual, but daily life.

These offerings are so stunningly, singularly effective, they have earned almost 12,000 5-star reviews since Sphere + Sundry began serving the public in 2018.

Over the years of working with essential oils for personal healing purposes and later Sphere + Sundry formularies, Kaitlin began self-training (with the support of materials from Mandy Aftel) as a perfumer, with the goal of creating Animist•ically and emotionally “functional” fragrances which could be worn alongside multiple astrological influences (and / or, none at all).

Though we do generally recommend obtaining fragrances as-is, so they can be worn with myriad magical influences (or alone) without being confined to just one — Astrological Enrichments can be added to any perfume in order to further ally it to to a specific Sphere (beyond natural sympathy), dedicated to whatever Astrological Power the Client so desires.

These can be selected through the “Astrological Enrichments” drop-down on each fragrance page. Certain fragrances are more naturally suited to carry the charge of some Spheres than others, so we have a list of recommended selections below (for inclusion, or simple layering).

Below that are a list of common notes and ingredients which form the basis of each Sphere + Sundry series (Spheries!), if the fragrance-inclined would like to explore its catalogue through that lens.

Obtaining Astrological Magic through Sphere + Sundry is typically far more cost effective (and flexible) than crafting bespoke magical perfumes from . In addition, more series are available from Sphere + Sundry than there are Astrological Enrichment options (since only those which include in-stock Tinctures can be added to alcohol-based fragrances).

Finally, note that Sphere + Sundry has for years offered fragrance collaborations which have been enchanted by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab in the form of Perfume Oils, and now create additional L’etoiles in an increasing array of solids.

Compatible Fragrances x S+ Series

SKY LIGHTS supports the energies of Golden Titan and Sun Without Sin (captures of the Sun in Leo), and Regulus, King of the fixed Royal Stars.

It pairs beautifully with Son of Apollo and Asclepius, for those in pursuit of healing and personal alchemical transformation.

It would be fascinating to experiment with Sky Lights’ effect on Lunar series, to see if the natural solar wavelengths feed their charge (as the Sun’s light nightly fills the actual Moon). These will likely be explored in Sphere + Sundry’s Client Community, where discussions of  fragrance are very much welcome.

LOTUS EATERS is a natural fit for Venus in Taurus, and any other Venus series, including Her sign of exaltation in Pisces and other rulership, Libra.

I am equally curious what people’s experience will be of pairing Lotus Eaters (and other naturally sympathetic Venusian fragrances) with Saturn in Aquarius or Capricorn, to see if it provides experiences resonant with Saturn’s exaltation in Libra. Especially since the earliest Talismanic Materia for that placement could be produced is not until 2040.

Lotus also features in Moon in Taurus and Luna in Cancer series.

TO LOVE AND BE LOVED is a cozy and connective, ideally suited to pairing with Exalted Luna, or any other Lunar, Venusian, or even Jupiterian series, such as Butter Ocean or forthcoming Jupiter in Cancer releases.

BLUE LOTUS EATERS can be helpful for trance induction, facilitating Fomalhaut (another fixed royal star) and Venus-Fomalhaut initiatives for ritual, mediumship, lucid dreaming, and sex magic.

It can also be paired with any Venus series to enhance sensuality, or Lunar series for enhanced intuition.

KALŌS evokes the high-masculine, making it a perfect accompaniment to Deneb Algedi, Mars exalted in Capricorn, Mars-Jupiter in Aries, The Second Decan of Capricorn, the Third Decan of Capricorn, Mars in Scorpio (forthcoming), Saturn in Capricorn and Aquarius, or any Jupiter energy.

NIGHTFALL offers a classically Saturnian and even Algolian olfactory profile, and is well suited to shadow work.
